Young Adults Night

Tonight the Young Adults at church met for a night of fun.  Everyone brought their favorite Mexican food (we brought brisket tacos), and then we played games.  The group I stayed with played Taboo.  I haven't played this game in years, but it was just as fun as I remember.  It was a great night of fellowship.

Cold Run

I skipped my Thursday run because I wanted to sleep.  I told myself I would run Thursday night.  That didn't happen.

Then I didn't run Friday.

Today I figured I had better run-no more skipping.  So I ran my long, weekend run-3.2 miles.  It was cool-in the lower 50's.  I am sure anyone reading this who is from anywhere north of Texas is probably chuckling, thinking about what a wimp I am.  But when it is in the 50's it is just cold to me.  I opted for running pants, rather than shorts, but I did wear a t-shirt.

By the end of my run I had an earache from the cold wind blowing into my ears (note to self-must find my ear muffs), and a sore throat plus that feeling you get in your lungs from breathing in cold air (second note to self-must find my hat that covers everything but my eyes).

The positive thing that came out of my run-I ran really fast!  I had to warm up somehow, plus the knowledge that as soon as I was done with my 3.2 I could go inside.  I do believe I will soon be using my gym membership a lot more regularly to avoid another run like this one!

Taken 2

Fridays are usually fun-I have the day off from work, and since the boys are in school, my hubby and I usually do something together.  Today we went to lunch, and then took the top off the Jeep and headed to north Dallas.  I was still in search of Pumpkin Pie Soda, and so we checked out Central Market again, and also Whole Foods.  No luck! We went window shopping for a bit, and by the time we thought about heading back home, 75 was backed up like it tends to get.  My hubby suggested we catch a movie while we waited out the traffic. We weren't even sure what was in theatres, but we quickly decided on Taken 2 since we really enjoyed the first one.

To be honest, I didn't have high hopes.  I never do with sequels; however, I was pleasantly surprised with this one.  It was still very action-packed, and it wasn't a "remake" of the last movie, but rather a great continuation.  They even left it set up for a 3rd movie if they want to do that at any point in time.
It was a really fun evening!  75 was still backed up when the movie let out, so we enjoyed driving down Greenville Avenue to avoid the mess.  I love spending fun time with my hubby!

National Taco Day

Take a quick look at the picture below.  It is definitely not a taco.
But when we got to Don Pablo's for Date Night, I was not in the mood for a taco.  No, you see, I saw their special board-and on it was not tacos-but enchiladas.  I have to say-they were pretty tasty (but certainly not my hubby's).

Saying Goodbye

A good friend from work is moving away-she's not just quitting, she is moving hours away.  We had a good bye party at work today.  I am gonna miss her!

Chicken Pot Pie

Today my hubby had head south for a meeting, and since the boys and I needed to eat, I was tempted to go out to eat.  However, we had some chicken thawed out, along with some vegetables that we had planned to cook for College Night, but didn't.  I figured I should cook it so it didn't go to waste.  I grilled the chicken while the mixed vegetables were on the stove heating up.  Once the chicken was done, I threw it in the pot with the veggies, added some cream of chicken soup and some broth, and then poured it into a casserole dish.  We had the crust for pot pie, but I was not in the mood for messing with that, so I just put some thawed biscuits on top, and baked it until they were done.  It was a yummy, simple meal-it just took some time.

Da Bears!

One day last week my boss told me he had 2 extra tickets to the Cowboys/Bears game, and asked if my hubby and I wanted to join his group.  Let me tell you, that was a no-brainer!  While I don't understand football, I absolutely love attending games like this-the crowd is just electrifying and I also enjoy trying whatever food they have to offer.

My hubby is a Redskins fan, so naturally, with the Cowboys and Skins being bitter rivals, he cheers for whoever is playing the Cowboys.  And since I have no clue about football, I root for whoever he is rooting for by default.

Here was the view of the field from our seats at yesterday's game.
One of the things I love about going to sporting events is the food.  I chose ultimate nachos for dinner.  And while I usually skip the jalapenos, I was feeling a little daring tonight.
My hubby got the 16 burger.  This picture doesn't do it justice; it was the largest burger I have ever seen.  I did help him with it, and I must say it was pretty tasty!
Yep-Monday night!
And the weather was beautiful so the roof was open.
The opening ceremony is always neat to watch.
But one of the best parts of the game-the people watching! We saw lots of people with these Bears hats.
I did watch some of the game, but I really had no idea what was going on.  I just cheered whenever the Bears fan cheered.
And back to more people watching.  The guy in the Bears hat kept playing his cowbell, and the Cowboys fan kept making rude gestures at him.  Thankfully, it appeared like playful fun.
Here is the group we sat with.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Dallas Cowgirls changed into pink uniforms and did the half-time show in pink.
Then there were 500 breast cancer survivors that entered the field and held these giant pink ribbons.  I have never seen anything quite like it before.
More people watching-the guy on the right is not wearing a shirt-he just painted himself blue. He is what I call a serious football fan. Right after I took this picture, a touchdown was scored. The fans in the hallway went crazy-cheering and screaming loudly.  It was almost deafening, so I assumed it was a Cowboys goal-but I was wrong-it was the Bears.  I was amazed by just how many Bears fans were there.  It was certainly not this way when I attended the Redskins/Cowboys game last year.
Another Bears fan-who brought with him a real bearskin.
By the time the 4th quarter came around, the Dallas fans were all leaving. I guess they were disappointed with what appeared to be a loss.  This Bears fan was telling them all "Bye!" as they exited the stadium. Other Bears fans were singing the "Goodbye" song.
Here is the cow bell guy again.  He had a lot of fun tonight. We watched him pose with tons of people for pictures.
Lots of Bears fans dancing and cheering...

My boss and his wife...
This lady had on a Dallas shirt and a Bears hat. Confused?
Look how empty the stadium was!  I'm telling you, the Dallas fans were leaving by the droves.
But the Bears fans stayed until the end, and cheered all the way out of the stadium.

I saved the best picture for last...me and my hubby waiting for the game to start.  It was a great night-one that won't be forgotten any time soon.
