New Car

Last night my hubby and I went back to the Mazda dealership (for the 3rd or 4th time) to look at the car we had been thinking about buying again.  We don't like to rush into financial decisions, so this has been a long time coming, but we finally decided that this was the right car to fit our needs.  We signed the paperwork last night, and my hubby picked it up this morning.  I am so excited to have a reliable car, and for my future of less stops at the gas station!

Women's Missions Dinner

The ladies from our church meet once a month, and each month there is a different theme or activity going on.  Tonight it was a potluck-everyone brought a covered dish-and then we talked about something neat our church donates to-a giving closet for missionaries called the Bluebonnet Boutique.  The Women's Director had asked me to talk a little bit about how it works, and then we had another lady talk about how she had received from this when she was a missionary kid.  We finished up the evening by bringing our gifts to give to the cause.  It was a great evening of fellowship and fun, but also learning about helping others.

Pastor Appreciation

Today I just feel overwhelmed!  It is Pastor Appreciation Day-and I can tell you that it is just humbling to have so many people share their love with your family!  There were so many cards to read, monetary gifts, and yes, even some homemade peach cobbler!  I just love the people at our church!

Music Theatre

As part of my son's theatre class, he has 2 performances this semester.  Tonight's performance is part of a 24 hour theatre festival-starting 24 hours before the performance is when the scripts are written.  They have all day to learn their lines and get their mini plays together.  Neat concept!  There were a series of 5 or 6 plays.  My son performed in one called "Timon & Pumba-The Musical?"  He even brought his keyboard and provided some of the music.  I've never seen anything quite like it.

One Hour Rolls

Do you ever just crave something?  Today for me, it was bread.  And not just a slice of loaf bread, but homemade rolls.  Thankfully, I remembered saving a pin on Pinterest to a recipe for one hours rolls.  So, I got busy in the kitchen, and before you knew it, I had some fresh, delicious dinner rolls!  Yum!
Here is a link to the recipe from What Is On Your Menu?  The recipe follows:
1 Hour Rolls
recipe from my sister-in-law Maggie

Ingredients
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. oil
  • 2 Tbsp. yeast
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 1/3 c. flour
Directions
  1. In a kitchenaid mixer bowl, mix together warm water, sugar, oil, and yeast. Let stand for 15 minutes until yeast mixture is bubbly.
  2. Stir in salt and beaten egg to yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually add flour. Dough will be kind of sticky, but add enough flour until it's manageable. Let dough rest in the kitchenaid bowl for 10 minutes.
  4. Spray hands with non-stick cooking spray and form dough into balls. Place balls so they don't touch on a cookie sheet (18" x 26" pan). Let rise for 20 minutes.
  5. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 10 minutes.

Makes about 24 rolls.

Women's Retreat 2012: Day 3

I can't believe the last day of Women's Retreat is already here!  Today was simply just the one session, but it was a good one!  Amber Rhoads and her band led us into worship once again,
and Jan Aldridge brought another message.  After her miraculous healing, she still had obstacles to overcome.
What a blessing this retreat has been to me!  It was good to spend time with friends, and to hear an evangelist bring the Word!  Now-I need sleep!

Women's Retreat 2012: Day 2

This morning's service started off with some worship, followed by the worship leader, Amber Rhoads, telling her story, and how God had restored her.
It led to an altar call time that touched so many in the service.
After lunch, we headed over to some workshops.  The first workshop was titled "Love is a Verb".
The second session we attended was "Marriage Revolution".  They were both great sessions-you could tell the speakers were well prepared.
Next we enjoyed a little free time before dinner.
Then we headed back to the auditorium a little early to guarantee us some good seats.  While we waited we went to the stage for some group pictures.

Isn't the stage design cool?  This year's theme is "First Love".
Amber Rhoads and her band led us once again into worship,
and then the keynote speaker, Jan Aldridge, was announced.  She told her story of being born with a birth defect and how that shaped her life.  She gave words of encouragement, and so many responded to the altar call.  She is such an anointed speaker!
What a great day!  I can't wait to hear her speak again tomorrow!
