Since we are getting serious about buying property, after dinner tonight, I suggested to my hubby that we stop by Lowe's or Home Depot for ideas on renovation/building. While browsing, I found the coolest fan in the world. Check this out!

Thank You Banquet
Today after church we had a banquet to honor and thank all of our children and youth volunteers. After making their way through the buffet line, a comedian came and entertained them for a while. The funniest part-he was poking fun at the ladies that attend "Ladies Night" at the gun range, and one of the ladies from the audience said that she goes to Ladies Night. He asked her a few questions about what goes on there, and then asked what type of target she shoots at. Her response-comedians! Fun times!

Birthday Time
Today we attended a birthday party for 3 people in the church-one was turning 60, and another had no idea the party was for him. Everyone brought food, which was all tasty, and we had a wonderful time fellowshipping together.
Paper Towel Art
It's not everyday you see pictures drawn on a paper towel, framed, and placed on display at a restaurant.

Puzzle Time
After Target Practice, we stopped by to visit with family. Isn't my niece adorable? She was busy putting puzzles together today.
Target Practice
I got my hubby a rifle for Christmas, and he got me a small handgun shortly thereafter, but living inside city limits we don't have a place for target practice. So we headed south to a friends for target practice. Here is a pic I got of my hubby, and one he got of me.
After that we drove the Jeep around in whatever mud holes we could find. I love these days with my hubby!
Little Czech Bakery
My hubby and I decided to head south today to make a quick visit to see family and to shoot our guns. On the way, we always pass through West, Texas right past the Little Czech Bakery. Sometimes we stop and sometimes we resist the temptation. Today resisting the temptation was just too much! I got a cream cheese brownie and my hubby got a fruit kolache. Yum! If you are ever passing though, this is the prefect place to stop to get a tasty treat.
It's the Little Things
I really wanted some tea with lunch, so we stopped by Chicken Express. The last thing I expect to see at a fast food chicken place is fresh flowers on the table-but they had them. So pretty!

Missions Pledge
Tonight we took the youth to a missions tour. The band welcomed us into God's presence, and then the speaker encouraged the teenagers to give to missions around the world. We finished the evening by pledging funds. It was a great time of worship!

Exhausting Day
Some days wear you out more than others. Today all I wanted to do after work was go home and sit in my chair next to my favorite guy! Ahhh! Relaxation at it's best!

Taking Down Decoration
This is most of the outdoor Christmas lights. My boys went out and brought them all in today-what a relief! Next step-the icicle lights! Maybe tomorrow!

Loaded Queso
Tonight I was craving Loaded Queso-queso blanco, refried beans, and taco meat with salsa, shredded cheese, and sour cream. Yum!
A Big Thank You
Today I helped my husband cook for the volunteer workers at church. It was the churches way of saying thank you for their hard work all year long. Lots of food!

Texadelphia Advertising
Last night my husband went to pick us up some phillies for dinner; however, when he got there, they were closed down. He ended up bringing me some Thai food, which was pretty good. Anyhow, I still had phillies on my mind today, and since we were in the area, we stopped in at Texadelphia.
I really enjoyed mine today-and it certainly fed my craving! While we were in line, one of their business cards caught my eye. I love their creative advertising technique!

Room with a View
I didn't get to spend much time at all in my room at the Children's Leaders Retreat this weekend-in fact, it was already dark by the time I got to my room last night. But this morning, there was a little bit of sunlight creeping in before I had to head downstairs back to work, so I snapped a quick picture of my view-that is downtown Dallas in far background. Such a pretty view! After a nice breakfast buffet and a couple more morning sessions, I collected room keys, packed up, and then got to head home. I think everyone seemed to have a good time, and learned a lot, as well.

Children's Leaders Retreat
Today started the Children's Leaders Retreat. I headed to Dallas, and got started working on gift bags for all those attending. Thankfully, my hubby and a co-worker helped me! I feel like so many details kept getting lost-I certainly wasn't multi-tasking well with this stupid cold, but we made it work! After registration ended the first service started-praise and worship followed by the speaker, Brian Dollar. I have a bunch of notes for next year on how to make registration run more smoothly. I think all that attended are having a great time!

Onions and Cough Syrup
About a week ago I started to feel a little sick. At first I just figured it was allergies-just a sore, scratchy throat-but it slowly developed into more-runny nose, cough, and exhaustion. The flu is going around, so I figured I had picked that up. I normally put off going to the doctor, but since I know I have an event to work this weekend, I figured I had better get some antibiotics and get healthy quick, so I made an appointment this morning. The doctor said I have a viral cold that is contagious-not what I wanted to hear! Contagious is a bad word! And since it is a virus-no antibiotics! Yuck! He told me exactly what you expect to hear-get lots of rest, drink lots of water, take vitamin C, and stay away from people. Of course, the thought going through my head was "I don't have time for this!" So I went back to work (great listener that I am), and finished up all the details for this weekend's event, and then headed home to rest.
I mostly relaxed in my chair (well, in between doing loads of laundry), and figured I would try a home remedy I had heard about recently: chop open an onion, and keep it nearby to inhale. I really do think it helps to clear up my passageways! By the end of the day I was breathing much easier!

I will make sure to use my cough syrup, too, though, because I know I will need a good night's rest before heading to Dallas tomorrow.
Family Picture
When we were on vacation in November we had a family picture taken. Since we were at Walgreen's this week picking up some meds for my cold, I figured it was a good time to get some developed. I got it on the wall above the fireplace today. Looks great!

Considering the Options
Our family is moving soon. But we don't know where! We found this fixer upper out in the country with acreage, and are considering the options. So many decisions to make! It has so much potential!
New Year's Fun
Since the whole family was off from work/school, we mostly stayed home and relaxed today. The boys and I even got in a game of Settlers of Catan.
Hoppin' John
Happy New Year! We usually have corned beef and cabbage, but this year we decided to go the black eyed pea route when we saw fresh black eyed peas at Central Market. My hubby made Hoppin' John. Tasty! I am glad there is enough for leftovers.
